I recently read multiple articles regarding mobile app development and I began to question myself. Are mobile apps dead?
It seems as if the app boom was years ago, nowadays it’s nearly impossible to launch a successful mobile app from scratch. The big ones are being launched by already successful and established companies. Starting from scratch and expecting to last years seems to be an impossible feat.
Not only that, but in mobile apps in general are far more limited than say, web apps. This is why there are iOS/Android/Windows exclusive apps. Some apps don’t work across these platforms and developing for every single one of them with a new language is tedious.
Web apps however, work with every platform that a web browser works on. Once our phone browsers become more advanced there won’t even be a need for mobile apps.
At least, this is what I think. I’m interested in other thoughts though.
